BASSOON LT (Lightweight)

Special Model

The underlying idea:

Lightweight construction is the new trend. Whilst it is already common practice in other fields, it has been significantly neglected in bassoon manufacture. The weight of instruments has increased substantially over recent decades with the development of ever more extensive keywork, which leads to additional physical stress. Furthermore this can be detrimental to an unrestricted playing experience. To counteract this we have developed a protected (DBGM) lightweight construction keywork design which has been consistently applied and which significantly reduces the weight of the instruments, even with an extensive keywork mechanism. Although the lightweight construction keywork is very hard to distinguish from conventional keywork, the extreme difference in weight has really amazed even us as the instrument makers. The LT-models weigh between 2.2 and 2.3 kg depending on model configuration. Conventional bassoons usually weigh between 3 and 4 kg.

The new LT keywork is currently available for the following models:

  • S 2000
  • S 2000 plus
  • Redline

Please check the details for each model in the accompanying descriptions.
All LT models come with our non-wear LCBearing system as standard.

All bassoons feature a handrest holder with a special clamping device, which keeps the handrest securely in the required position. An ergonomically shaped handrest, which reduces weight on the left hand, is available as an option.

Optionally available:

  • Ergonomically shaped handrest, which reduces weight on the left hand
  • Balance hanger
  • Additional optional keys and special requests are available on request

Because of the increasing occurrence of nickel allergies all our key mechanisms are fully silver-plated.
